i subscribed and wanted to join diaspora since it came out, but still no invitation sent to me.
how does this work? how can I get invitation? i guess there’s a lot of people that get invited, even they asked for one later than me.

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for an invite for a while too.
HOWEVER, since diaspora is open source, lot’s of other people have taken the code and are running it themselves. Their services are theoretically identical, and don’t require invites. You can find lists at:

Most of the sites listed do not need invitations. Just sign up

And again: Diaspora is decentralized, each installation is NOT isolated, you can have friends from any installation available.
